Hastings Swing Bridge - Time Lapse

AE Bridge Engineers have completed the swing bridge replacement project in the Village of Hastings of Ontario. This bridge is a central fixture within the community and the Trent Severn Waterway. The existing structure was approaching the end of it’s serviceable life and was taken out of service January 4th, 2016. This resulted in a 55km detour for the surrounding communities. AE Bridge Engineers had designed the replacement structure in 2015 in preparation of this replacement. The new bridge was constructed and returned to service just under one month ahead of schedule on April 29th, 2016 to much jubilation and celebration from the surrounding communities. As part of this project AE installed a video camera to record a time lapse video of the construction process and ceremonial opening swing.
