Split Rock Bridge, Split Rock Creek State Park, Minnesota
In the 1930s the Works Progress Administration (WPA) was one of the groups designed to spur the economy and create jobs. The WPA focused mainly on the arts but also did several road-side projects. One of these was this bridge, built in 1938 out of Sioux Quartzite from the surrounding area (and not just a stone veneer either). It has survived unaltered to this day. more info
