Media File No. 241867

The elevator tower and stairway leading up to the east end of the Gibbs Street Pedestrian Bridge (in Portland, Oregon), from Moody Avenue in the South Waterfront District. In this photo, three cyclists are waiting for the elevator, while a fourth cyclist has opted to carry his bike up the stairs.

The even taller tower, which goes out of the frame, is the support tower of the Portland Aerial Tram, a 3,000-foot (1 km) cableway connecting Oregon Health & Science University (on Marquam Hill) with the South Waterfront District. To the right of the elevator tower, near its top, is a viewing platform. It is level, but perspective distortion in this photograph makes it appear otherwise.
