Approval process of a perforated clinker car park façade.

The façade of the in 2013 newly constructed car park Westpark at the Jahrhunderthalle in Bochum consists of a perforated facing made of clinkers, which is back-anchored to a steel structure. The open design of the façade required an approval in individual cases, because of its non-standard design. On the basis of this building project, the process for obtaining an approval in individual cases is explained in the article. On the one hand, the performed experimental studies and the derived material parameters, that were required for the design of the façade, are presented. On the other hand, the monitoring of the quality of execution of the masonry on site is shown.
