Abstract:

Wrinkling strength of sandwich panels subjected to localised loads.

The wrinkling strength of sandwich panels is strongly influenced by local deformations at intermediate supports. In this paper a design procedure is presented to determine the wrinkling strength of sandwich panels subjected to localised loads. Therefore the wrinkling phenomenon is transferred into a non-linear stability problem. The reduced load bearing capacity due to localised loads is considered by an approach of equivalent geometric imperfections, which is presented for point-loads and line-loads. The paper concludes with an alternative approach using a buckling-curve for the wrinkling phenomena.
