Abstract:

Methodology for the further development and simplification of the EC 6 with its National Annex.

The year 2012 is an important point for Germany in the history of Eurocodes. On July 1 2012 the building authority plans the introduction of the most important Eurocodes together with the German annex as mandatory design standards for construction. The remaining Eurocodes - among them the masonry code EC 6 - will follow as soon as possible. Already before the officially introduction the general call for simplification and reduction of extend of the current codes exists. Other Eurocodes than EC 6 are more complex and have a bigger extend. But also the EC 6 will be confronted with the revision and further development, because it has mostly the stage of the year 2002. The start of the revision is foreseen for the year 2013 and will last a specified time according to previous experience. With this revision exists the chance to introduce latest findings like in the German annex as well as to reduce the National Determined Parameters and the additional information.
Task categories for the revision will be shown in the paper as well as ways for solutions and working steps.
