Abstract: |
The structure of York Millennium Bridge uses advanced technology proving that a slender inclined ribbon of stainless steel can support an 84 m span box girder deck. The inspiration however, lay in the desire to create an enjoyable experience for all bridge users. The Millennium Bridge, providing not only a pedestrian and cycle link, has been designed to form a meeting place, the characteristics of which reach out along the banks of the river into the city. |
