Abstract:

This paper discusses the use of hybrid-Trefftz elements for the vibration and stability analysis of thick and thin plates. The approach can be used for elements of arbitrary geometry. However, the paper concentrates on the use of simple and robust triangular elements. Analytical expressions for the required matrices are readily derived for such elements, thereby improving their computational efficiency. Results for various problems are included to demonstrate the accuracy and efficiency of the elements.
