Abstract: The energy renovation of buildings is one of the main keys to achieve the decarbonisation objectives of the European Union as defined in the European Green Deal. To proceed with them; one of the tools is the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EU Directive 2018/844); the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD); including the assessment framework based on Measurable Progress Indicators (MPIs) grouped into domains by Commission Recommendation (EU) 2019/786 of 8 May 2019 on building renovation. The aim of this paper is to analyse the feasibility of the Measurable Progress Indicators (MPIs) proposed by the European Union in the Spanish state, establishing a critical view of the applicability of the proposed assessment framework. In conclusion, the feasibility of the Measurable Indicators of Progress (MPIs) proposed by the European Union in the Spanish state presents several barriers such as data fragmentation: insufficient medication and limited access to data. On the other hand, there are also opportunities to improve the assessment of building renovation through the development of new tools and resources for data collection, such as building monitoring, machine learning and the building renovation passport
