Abstract:

Award, structural design and erection of the bridge across the IJssel, Netherlands.

The 'Hanzelijn', a 50 km long double-tracked newly built railway line between Zwolle and Lelystad at the IJsselmeer, is presently built in the Netherlands creating an efficient railway connection between the north and the conurbations of Amsterdam and Rotterdam in the west.
Essential part of the project is the new construction of the 930 m long railway bridge over the IJssel. The bridge is the winning design of a design and build competition and an outstanding example of architecturally appealing railway bridge construction.
