Abstract:

Generalized Beam Theory - A classification with respect to static calculation methods

Since more than 40 years a logical and successful method of analysis for structures combined of several plates exists. The method is an extension of the Engineer's Beam Theory for the calculation of rigid prismatic folded structures while allowing for changes of cross sections. The history of the so called Generalize Beam Theory (GBT) and the performance of this calculation method are illustrated by schematic diagrams.
