Abstract:

Investigation of the heat transport mechanisms of shallow soils under groundwater flow

An extensive database of groundwater influenced geothermal systems was developed by experimental investigation with a constructed conduction and convection laboratory device. The transferability of the database to geothermal systems in-situ was proofed via experimental investigation in geothermal field tests. By the means of a numerical model, which was calibrated and validated with the experimental database, an extension of the experimental investigation range was reached. With help of the database recommendations for the dimensioning of groundwater influenced geothermal systems were given. The increase of the effective thermal conductivity of sands due to groundwater flow was determined for weakly aquiferous, aquiferous and strongly aquiferous sands in addition to [1].
