Abstract: |
Investigations of the water vapor resistance of glued wood joints depending on the type of adhesive. The water vapor resistance was measured at pure adhesive layers (PVA, PUR, UF, MUF, EPI, bone glue) and at glued wood lamellas according to DIN EN ISO 12572 using the dry-cup and the wet-cup-procedure. Clear differences of the water vapor resistance between the different adhesive variants could be analyzed. The resistance of the pure adhesive layers was considerable higher than the resistance of the glued elements, what is due to the hardening principles and penetration of the adhesive into the substrate. The gluelines of the tested systems PVAc, EPI and 1K-PUR within the jointed wood lamellas was very vapor tight, which has to be considered for a building physical evaluation of glued wood elements. |
