Abstract: |
'Linthal 2015' in the canton Glarus is currently one of the largest construction projects being undertaken by the Swiss energy sector. The core of the project is an underground pumped-storage power plant that is under construction. This will pump water from Lake Limmern at 1,800 m ASL to the higher Lake Mutt at 2,500 m ASL from where, utilising a maximum head of 709 m, it will again be used for the generation of electricity as required. The new power plant will have a pump and turbine output of 1,000 MW; the construction period is scheduled to extend over six years. |
