Design of watertight concrete structures using autogenous healing of cracksThe design and execution of watertight concrete structures in Germany is regulated by the DAfStb guideline on watertight concrete structures from 2003 (WU-Richtlinie). Fundamentals of the design of watertight concrete structures according to the WU-Richtlinie refer to several options to solve the problem of possible cracks in concrete. Most practitioners prefer autogenous healing of cracks because it is an efficient and economical way to solve these problems. This paper provides some basic information on the autogenous healing process and the effects on the usability of watertight structures. |
