Abstract:

Load-bearing capacity and load-bearing behaviour of notched joints

Cross and corner joints using notches are important members of almost every roof structure erected by carpenters in central europe. The structural usage of these joints demands the knowledge of their load-bearing capacity and behaviour according to EN 1995-1-1. It's even more astonishing, that therefore codes and literature lack information.
This contribution deals with 26 tests of different notched joints and their results. Both proposals for the design and for the determination of the stiffnesses of these joints are given here.
