Abstract: |
Torre de Cristal. ArchitectureThe 250-m tall Glass Tower will be one of Madrid?s most emblematic buildings. According to César Pelli, this skyscraper is ?like a sculpture chiselled from a huge block of glass??. Tower three in the Cuatro Torres (?four towers?) urban complex will house leased office suites in its entirety. The present article provides a succinct description of the building, its uses and functional organization. The importance of the environmental features of the facade in the conception of the building is also discussed. Finally, certain technical issues are addressed, such as the attention paid in the design to compliance with the existing legislation on fire protection and the finishes chosen for the building. |
