Admissible time interval between layers in theconstruction of roller compacted concrete (RCC) dams

The system of construction of dams of roller compacted concrete (RCC) implies a great number of horizontal joints of construction that suppose a plane of weaker resistance and higher permeability in comparison with plain concrete. Any objective and effective evaluation method doesn?t exist to allow to assure in situ the quality of the joints formed when placing a new layer on a concrete surface conserved and under some cured conditions during a period of time. In this article an objective procedure is presented based in technical of penetration that allows to settle down, a priori, the quality of the joints conformed, taking into account all the factors that influence in the phenomenon.
