Abstract: |
The ground freezing technique is used not only to stabilise soil but also for sealing excavations and tunnels below groundwater level. As it can be applied in various soil types and controlled very well by temperature measurement, it can be used as a planned measure as well as to remedy leaking excavations. The paper gives an overview of the general function and special features of ground freezing for sealing purposes, and three completed examples are presented. |
