Abstract:

Analysis of measures and potentials for energy-related renovation of residential buildings today and in 2050.

This study examines different restructuring measures for reference residential buildings in Germany. The subjects of the investigation are the calculated net, final and primary energy demand as well as the caused CO₂ equivalent emissions and the resulting annuity. The purpose is to identify what kinds of measures have the biggest saving effects concerning the above-named parameters. Therefor the German residential building stock is represented by nine reference buildings, ranging from single- to large multi-family homes. By the definition of four different building refurbishment levels, the characteristics of non-renovated buildings up to fully renovated buildings are taken into account. Remediation measures such as the building refurbishment or the decarbonisation of the heat generation are evaluated individually or combined. For the assessment of the whole residential building sector a building-quantity structure is developed. Lastly five different scenarios portraying the residential building sector in 2050 are evaluated with respect to the resulting final and primary energy demand as well as the caused CO₂ equivalent emissions.
