In preparing two lots in New York Citys Times Square as sties for modern skyscrapers, engineers devised foundations and structural systems that would allow for subway lines, subway stations, and a century-old theater. In these two articles, the engineers explain how the foundations were meticulously installed and how the slender structures were efficiently stabilized. |
