Abstract:

Mapping of real impacts on a structure by acceptable load models is a fundamental assumption for its reliability and durability.

Especially for road bridges traffic load models are affected by increasing traffic loads. This needs a periodical calibration of the load models to the actual traffic volume, which can be achieved by different ways of Weigh-In-Motion-Systems and numerical investigations. The main focus of this article is in the presentation of a combined application of structural measurements and laser based geodetic measurements to calibrate a numerical model. This model allows a numerical investigation of the actual traffic volume and predicted traffic loads.
