Abstract: |
This paper describes a special type of concrete bridge, the two-way curved arch bridge, developed in China since the sixties. The bridge makes use of arching action in the transverse direction together with that in the longitudinal direction, to improve the behaviour of the main arch ring, which during construction is first broken up into parts such as rib members and arch tiles, and then assembled from those parts to form the whole. Mainly the components and calculation principles of the superstructure are explained. The construction methods are also briefly introduced at the end of the paper. |
