Abstract:

Theoretical and experimental research on the stability of metal structures and the resulting practical design methods have been developed through independent efforts, mainly in Europe, North America, and Japan. A world literature on this type of research exists and evidently has been exchanged. However, the lack of communication between research bodies in different areas of the world, and the lack of any plan to coordinate the various research methodologies and practical design rules, has led to significant differences in philosophical approach.
