Stability analysis of members with mono-symmetric section shapes — Eurocode conforming rules in the Austrian National Annex for the EN 1993-1-1.

The rules for member stability given in the existing Eurocode EN 1993-1-1 provide design formulae, called interaction-formulae for bending and axial compression, which cover the main application range of rolled and welded pro files with double-symmetric I-, H- or hollow sections. An extension of these rules to mono-symmetric section shapes has been implemented in the Austrian National Annex ÖNORM B 1993-1-1. The structure of these rules and the background are given in the present paper.
