Abstract:

This paper presents a comprehensive experimental and numerical study on the load‐carrying behaviour of innovative high performance materials steel‐concrete composite columns: Namely concrete‐filled steel tube columns with solid steel core (CFSTCSC) and concrete‐filled double steel tube columns (CFDST). The experimental results exemplify the basic load‐carrying behaviour. In addition to that, the application range of high‐strength materials is evaluated in relation to the slenderness. Finally, the influence of geometric imperfections on the load‐carrying behavior is investigated based on the manufacturing tolerances of such multi‐component cross‐sections.
