Abstract:

Sir John Fowler built up what was possibly the greatest consultancy practice of the Victorian era, responsible for the first underground railways in London and the Forth Railway Bridg, amongst many other projets. This Paper explores Fowler's work with particular emphasis on his bridge designs.
