Abstract: |
An innovative pedestrian and bicycle bridge has been built entirely with reactive powder concrete, without any steel rebars. The superstructure spans 60 m and consists of an open-web space truss. The web members are made with reactive powder concrete confined in thin-wall stainless steel tubes. The superior strength of the material resulted in a significant reduction in the dead load of the bridge. An extensive experimental program was set up to study the behaviour of the bridge, which has been built in a region with harsh environmental conditions. |
