Settlement analysis for the load case earthquake using the example of a cooling tower at the Arabian Peninsula.Earthquakes particularly in case of high ground water tables in sandy foundation soils could lead to liquefaction and cause severe settlements, resulting as a worst case scenario in a shear failure of the complete building foundation. In the following about the shallow foundation of a settlement sensitive shell structure of a cooling tower at the Arabian Peninsula will be reported and about the related settlement analysis for the load case earthquake. |
