Safety of hanging systems: lessons from CROSS reports

Abstract:

Simple hanging systems are widespread. Despite their apparent simplicity, numerous failures have occurred. This paper explores the reasons why and suggests that increased design attention is required to assure system safety. This is especially important for systems incorporating multiple load-sharing hangers.
