Abstract:

The revitalization of the bell frame of the Dresdener Kreuzkirche, Germany.

The bronze church bells of the Dresdener Kreuzkirche, dated from 1900, are some of the heaviest preserved in Germany. The steel frame of the fife-voice peal is located in a bell chamber with a minimum of space. After an inspection of the steel structure the damages have been classified such as serious, that starting from the 9th of March 2009 bell ringing was forbidden. In addition it was suspected, that significant cracks at the church tower were caused by ringing. After an historical review and the analysis of current state the following article describes the planning stages up to the revitalization of the bell frame.
