Abstract:

Incompatibilities between the original substance containing gypsum in historically significant buildings and modern hydraulic repair materials have been known for over 80 years. However, as a result of expansion phenomena, a lot of culturally and historically valuable buildings in Germany have been irretrievably destroyed in recent decades. In a project of the Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt, the question of which materials and which technologies are suitable for the renovation of masonry containing gypsum was investigated.
