Reparatur eines beschädigten Doppelmantel-Stahlbehälters

A double shell tank of capacity 10 000m³ was damaged during the water pumping out action, after the completion of the water test. Due to the mistake in the sequence of pumping actions, there occurred a lower water level inside the tank than in the intershell space. The tank shell was deformed due to compression. The repair actions were executed in the following sequence:

• sealing of the existing cracks in the shell and securing the places where new cracks were predicted to occur at the hydraulic expanding
• hydraulic expanding
• thermo-mechanic rectification of the tank
• exchange of the most damaged shell fragments.
