Abstract:

Repair and strengthening segmental bridges using carbon fiber

This paper shows the structural behavior of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastics (CFRP) when strengthening segmental structures. A detailed experimental research work carried out at the Technical University of Catalonia is presented. It is based on the CFRP ultimate strain. The experimental work was achieved through the use of tensile and bonding tests on specimens and structural tests using segmental beams. The overall objective of this paper is to show the results obtained in this research project as well as to propose the mentioned bonding test as an alternative for characterization of these new products in order to use them in the strengthening of segmental structures.
