Abstract: |
The project to revive the Reichstag parliament building in Berlin has included restoring the structure's original visual profile by rebuilding its large central dome. The new dome, however, is far from a replication. On the contrary, it is remarkable state-of-the-art architectural and structural expression of the renaissance of this historic building as the seat of Germany's parliament. With its visitors' ramps and observation platform above a glass floor over the legislative chamber, the concept behind the new Reichstag dome is to open the workings of government to the public. |
