Abstract: |
An old steel truss bridge located in North Finland was rehabilitated by replacing the old wooden deck with a steel orthotropic deck. The deck was prefabricated in the workshop and installed in its final position by the launching method. All structures and joints of the steel deck are simple and accessible to avoid corrosion problems in the future. In order to increase the load-bearing capacity of the main structure some joints were strengthened. The original appearance of the truss bridge was improved by painting it with a light colour and installing illumination. |
