Rehabilitation of the Salginatobel Bridge

The Salginatobel Bridge between Schiers and Schuders is the best known bridge of Robert Maillart, and is widely recognised today as a structural monument of international importance. In 1991, it was declared an International Historic Civil Engineering Landmark by the American Society of Civil Engineers. After the bridge was declared an international civil engineering monument the need for long-term conservation became obvious. The maintenance work was planned with this goal in mind, and in cooperation with the conservation authorities, guidelines were laid down.
