Abstract: |
Murrayfield Stadium, with a capacity of 67 500, is currently the largest all-seater stadium in Scotland. Ease of access, excellent sight lines and extensive hospitality provision are hallmarks of the stadium. The smaller scale of the older East Stand means that the Murrayfield is not a uniform "bowl", but this does not detract from the excellent atmosphere generated on match days. The construction of the stadium in discreet phases essentially in the nine-month period between two rugby union international seasons was a major challenge to the designers and contractors. The quality of the end-product and the fact that it was achieved without any match being postponed or diverted to another venue is a source or pride to all involved. |
