Abstract: |
The presented research aims to investigate how the choice of steel grade affects the resistance of T‐shaped RHS‐to‐RHS structural connections, specifically those involving an offset of a brace toward the wall of a chord. To assess the mechanical resistance of these connections, the numerical non‐linear FE modelling with ABAQUS software were utilized, which is then validated against results obtained from the analytical model developed by Kalmykova & Wald [1]. Material modelling is carried out for steel grades S355, S460, and S690, using standardized parametric curves as outlined in EN 1993‐1‐8. It is evident that variations in material properties and the fy/fu ratio influence the behavior of these connections, particularly at the 3% deformation level. |
