Abstract: |
Raftsundet Bridge is located in northern Norway and crosses the Raftsundet sound between two of the Lofoten Islands, Austvaagoey and Hinnoey. Raftsundet Bridge is part of the LOFAST project, which will link the Lofoten Islands to the Norwegian mainland. Initially, the bridge will replace a local subsidised ferry over the sound, and will provide the small villages east of the sound direct access to the main town of Svolvaer. Later, the LOFAST project will offer a ferry-free connection to the mainland. Construction started in June 1996, and the bridge was completed in November 1998. |
