Abstract: |
Composite bridges CONCRETE-concreteThe Composite bridges CONCRETE-concrete ("precast-in situ concrete") opens a new scope for the concrete precast industry. Interesting research work is carried out now on software and materials knowledge. Wide aesthetic posibilities appear, thanks to a careful arrangement for decks and different shape columns. Important slenderness can be reached with the use of high performance materials and levels of control. Improvement in experience, research knowledge of joint behaviour will increase the freedom for continuous joint location and so open big liberty in span/depth ratios. The building process, simple "in situ" top slabs supported from the construction moment, by big precast elements allow economical concurence with the most traditional "steel-concrete composite construction". The final concrete bridge shows the very good durability and manteinance conditions of "in situ" concrete bridges, but cheaper and easier construction process. |
