Abstract:

The Gadalete river bridge with a deck of precast prestressed beam in high stregth concrete

The HSC has been used for the first time in Spain in precast beams for a bridge, in order to gain experience regarding its economic use and its performance over a long period of time, in comparison to the use of NSC in similar bridges exposed to the same severe conditions. This article describes the site conditions, the solutions considered, the characteristics of the chosen bridge, general dimensions, foundations, piers and abutments, precast beams and deck slabs, the prefabrication and construction of the bridge, the design and calculation peculiarities, the mix design and the characteristics of the HSC used and the tests carried out on the HSC and on the bridge beams.
