Abstract:

Railroad bridge across Ebro river in Amposta

The new railroad bridge across the Ebro river at Amposta consists of one viaduct 1.006 m long, made of two consecutive structures with different structural concepts. The first one is isostatic and formed by 17 spans, with precasted beam decks with spans of 40 and 41 m. This structure crosses the meadow of the right side of the river. The second structure is hyperstatic, made of one continuous stretch of 5 spans, 45, 58, 92, 58 and 45 m. long, fixed on the central piers located on the river banks and free bearings on the other. The central span over the river and the two adjacent spans were built by successive cantilevers and the two spans at the ends were built on site by means of traditional falsework.
