Abstract:

In 2010, employees of the Department of Roads and Bridges, Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Lublin University of Technology, have done expertise of the technical condition of the viaduct over the Podwale Street and arcaded passage located within the municipal road No.106814 - Zamkowa Street in Lublin. The final evaluation of the technical condition requested as soon as possible execution of the repair, not only the steps but also balustrades and retaining walls, as their further degradation was a real threat to users. In addition, due to the location of these objects - in the oldest part of Lublin (Old Town),it was very important to reproduce historical appearance. For this purpose it was necessary to work closely with the Provincial Monuments Conservator. In 2011 the design office DrogMost Lubelski Sp. z o.o. prepared project documentation for reconstruction of Zamkowa Street stretch from Grodzka Gate to the end of the viaduct, along with accompanying facilities. And the reconstruction was completed in 2012. The article reported the next steps reconstruction, which the author took a direct part, and presents a brief history of Zamkowa Street with a description of the status of the viaduct and the transition arcade before reconstruction.
