Implementation of DIN EN 1996/NA - D in design software.

Due to the software-based design of masonry walls switching to new design standards is not compulsorily associated with the acquisition of a complete knowledge of the new standards. However, the correct application of the new design standards in design software often demands the specification of previously uncommon input parameters and the effects on the results of the design checks and demands should be understood. This paper aims to provide findings and conclusions made during the process of implementation of DIN EN 1996 by the Friedrich Lochner company in their design software for unreinforced masonry, and thus to support the unobstructed introduction of the Eurocodes for masonry in Germany.
