Abstract:

This paper develops the premises for considering the use of pure ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene UHMWPE from recycling according to European regulations, as a viable alternative to the use of structural steel in concrete reinforcement. European regulations aimed at promoting the use of plastics in a circular economy encourage the recycling of this material in all areas and sectors that are susceptible to reuse. To this end, it is essential to analyse the possibilities of this material in construction from a structural point of view, which will lead to its use as an alternative to traditional materials.
