Plaza de Castilla underpass (Madrid)The different actieons involved during the construction of the underpass in Plaza de Castilla in Madrid are described. The structures are the underpass and footbridge at its northern entrance. The underpass has a "Y" shaped plan. The main arm is 541 m long and the other has a length of 120 m. It is 24,20 m wide and it reaches a width of 56 m in the intersection of the two arms. The main elements of the structure are reinforced concrete diaphragm walls, prestressed concrete cast in place slabs and precast prestressed concrete beams. The footbridge has a "U" plan disposition with two lateral cantilevers and a central span supported by the lateral ones. It is a composite steel-concrete structure. |
