Abstract:

Buckling columns in bridges with deck on elastometric bearings

Column buckling with partial end restraint is analysed through the development of a theorical study model for practical support conditions, and approipiate instability length and loads are obtained. Buckling stress variation along the bar axis is ffound, verifying the results obtained for the most well known limite cases. Beams and deck bridges on elastometric bearings are analysed by this method, obtaining reslts for the various rigidities corresponding to the res of the structure at the ends of the analysed column. Finally, a complete example of the emthod is described and the process is summed up in the conclusion.
