Abstract: |
This article discusses the construction solutions and structural design of the Liturgical Hall dedicated to Padre Pio in the San Giovanni Rotondo. The concept of constructing with a traditional material such as stone, and using it in a modern and innovative way inspired the engineering design team's interest in this project. Using proper calculation codes, static as well as dynamic analyses were carried out. These analyses were able to provide sufficient indication of the real behaviour of the structure. The entire project was backed by a complete series of experimental trials dealing with the singular materials and the construction systems. |
