Abstract:

Numerical investigations of the shear resistance of prestressed hollow core slabs in slim floor constructions.

The shear resistance of prestressed hollow core slabs is considerably reduced due to transverse stresses when the slabs are bedded on slender beams. In practice, open questions are the consideration of a support's flexibility in the design of the slabs and the effect of the beam stiffness. This paper summarises the topic of flexible supports and full-scale tests with hollow core slabs supported on shallow steel beams. Numerical investigations and conclusions regarding the load bearing behaviour of the described constructions will be discussed in the following.
